Color Swatches and Attribute Selectors for Configurable Products

Advanced Attribute Swatches provides you with several good tools and plenty of settings to tweak in back-office. To me, it's much better than default Configurable Swatches included with Magento 1.9.x.
One thing that could be improved is a kind of preload / async feature for product page images.
Last, Fernando in the team was very friendly and helpful.
